Hiatus

I am going to take a hiatus from my diet and exercise diary.
I will not be breaking from working out and dieting,
just all the picture taking and blogging.

I've run 25+ miles in the last six days and I plan to
run at least 6 more days before I take a day or two off.

This blog has been a great tool for learning to be mindful of what I eat
and to keep me committed to my exercise regimen.

But at the moment I am just burned out on it.
I am neither a writer nor photographer,
so it was not a natural fit for me.
I don't know when, or if, I will resume.

Be well imaginary readers,
Kim

I'm really loving my new running route.
3 miles straight uphill then 3 back down.
There is just something about the single-minded goal

of the Las Vegas Strip and the entire valley.
One sip of water for me, the rest of the bottle for the dogs
and back down again.

Day 128 - Stay Close To Home

November 17, 2009

Exercise
3 mile run

After taking the dogs to the park I went out to run by myself,
or should I say tried to run.
Not only was I plagued by tight muscles and sore feet,
after about a mile I developed an acute stomach ache.
If there is one thing you do not want while you are out running
is to be in serious need of a bathroom with none in sight.
So, I circled around the park across the street from my house for three miles.
I'm sure I was quite a sight,
limping around with a look (I imagine) of agony on my face.

Day 119 - Weakness Leaving The Body

November 8, 2009

Exercise
3.5 mile walk

I had every intention of running,
but then I woke up with charlie horse in my right thigh.
I was not quite a cramp,
but enough to make me skip the run and take a long walk instead.

We walked along part of the triathlon route while they were still setting it up. The refreshment tables were stocked with all kinds of beverages including Coke, because , I guess sometimes you really need a good ol' Coca Cola. Also, there were bananas, oranges and energy gel packs.
Some people had put up motivational signs for their loved ones, one read

"Pain is just weakness leaving the body."

I'll have to remember that one.

There is a triathlon start/finish line in my neighborhood this weekend, so for the last few days there all these super-fit athletes roaming around the venue area and the neighborhood trails.
All I can say is DAYUM, those people are unbelievably fit.
I cannot imagine the dedication and hard work they must devote to their sport
to be such elite athletes. I'm in Awe.
I must stop whining about my puny little workout routine.
