Day 49 - Smoke Gets In Your Eyes

August 30, 2009

Exercise
Basically, none.

There is smoke funneling into the Las Vegas valley from the wildfires in California. When I went out to walk the dogs it was so hot and smokey that my eyes were stinging. That took away any motivation I had to exercise. So I just walked the dogs in the park for a while.

Day 48 - As Good As I Once Was

August 29, 2009

Exercise
2 mile dog walk
Housework
Bootie Shaking at Toby Keith/Jack Ingram concert.

It's too freaking hot to exercise outdoors! I walked the dogs and then did some vacuuming and cleaning before going to the concert. I forgot to take a picture of the yummy sushi we had at Hachi at Red Rock Casino where the concert was. So, in lieu of that I posted a short clip of Rod's theme song at the bottom of the page.

Breakfast
One Scrambled Egg
V-8

Snack
Blueberries

Lunch
Turkey BLT
Sourdough Bread
Tomatoes
Garden Greens
Chips

(Glad I picked this lettuce because it was decimated by worms last night.)

Dinner
Edamame
Assorted Sushi
(so good! I highly recommend Hachi If you are ever in Vegas.)

Rod's theme song with narration by me.

As for the rest of the concert-it was alright, but I would have rather have had a full-lenght Jack Ingram concert. Toby just phones it in these days. That's the last time we are shelling $100+ to have good seats at one of his shows.
Jack was awesome as usual. I'll have to post some of my pictures of him and me one day.

Day 47 - One Hot Mama

August 28, 2009

Exercise
Dog Park
3.7 Mile Run

I was one hot mama on my run yesterday. It was about 100 degrees, way too hot for the dogs so I went by myself and only made it 3.7 miles. I've live in the desert a long time but, this was the first time I worried about heat stroke. I should have been sweating profusely, but I was just barely sweating, my face felt very hot and I had a slight headache. Instead of the dogs getting dunked in the fountains and sprinklers it was me. When I got home I took off my shoes and jumped right in the pool. I swear steam rose up out of the water when I did.

Breakfast
Dry Cereal

Lunch
Lean Cuisine Tuscan Chicken Paninii
Salad

Snack
Cottage Cheese

Dinner
Cantaloupe
(from the garden)
Steak
Asparagus
Mushrooms

These are the last of my iPhone pics.
Unless I am out, (like I will be tomorrow)
I will be using my real camera.

Day 46 - Sideways

August 27, 2009

Exercise
P90X - Chest, Shoulders and Triceps
Cathe Freidrich - Core Max

I have some Cathe Friedrich's workouts recorded on the dvr. I'm afraid of most of them, they (the workouts and the women) look like they could kick my ass pretty hard, but I decided to give Core Max a try. It did kick my ass, but in a good way. My abs were nicely sore after and I am proud to say I maintained good form and did not strain my neck.
Chest Shoulders and Triceps was awesome as usual. I stayed on my knees for most of the push-ups so that I could bang out more reps. My shoulders are really responding to all the working out- starting to see a nice shape there. The triceps are developing, but mostly hidden under my flabby 'batwings'. I'm working on it, I'm working on it.

I have already taken some iPhone pics for tomorrows post, but they are going to be the last ones.
The spontaneously rotating pics are becoming annoying.
I blame blogger, 'cause it only happens here.
Breakfast
2 Scrambled Eggs
V-8

Nothing wrong with this pic!
The rest-well....

Lunch
Mostly Vegetable Soup w/
Noodles

Snack
Turkey Breast

Day 45 - Bring It

August 26, 2009

Exercise
3.5 mile run
P90X - Core Synergistics

I still feel like crap but willed myself to get over it.
My period will start tomorrow so, if I focus on that, knowing I will feel better, I can get through today without bitching and moaning.
The P90X motto is BRING IT - so I did.
Working my body and sweating was the best thing I could do for it.
It relieved a lot of stress.
That and getting excused from jury duty AND
selling some expensive concert tickets that I couldn't use made for a pretty good day.

Day 43 - Jury Duty

August 24, 2009

Exercise
None

Weight
162
0 pounds lost this week - 7 so far

I attribute this weeks lack of weight loss to horrendous case of PMS.
I am so bloated and tired. And cranky.
My boobs have gained about three pounds each.
I kid you not.
You know the old joke about the guy who complains that every time his wife's boobs start looking hot, he's not allowed to touch them?
That's my husband.

So, I had jury duty the Federal Court today. We filled out questionaires regarding the case and will have to go back next week if we are not dissmissed before then. I know it's my civic duty, blah, blah, blah, but I really hope that I am rejected as soon as they read my answers.

Breakfast
Fullbar
(Didn't fill me.)

Brunch
V-8
Boiled Egg

Lunch
Lean Cuisine Chicken Enchiladas

Snack
Beef Jerky

Dinner
Ham
Lima Beans
Potato Salad

Day 42 - Born To Run

August 23, 2009

Exercise
5 mile run

Tramps like us, baby we were born to run.
Well maybe not me so much, but my dogs love it. Boxers are very high energy dogs, so they just love to get out and run, though I'm sure they wonder why we have to go so damn slow.
When we lived at the beach I let my old boxer, Peanut Butter, run off-leash on the trails. She would run ahead but always come back when I called. Even if I did trust these two off-leash (which I don't), there are just too many distractions around here to allow it. So they will just have to be satisfied going slow with me.

Breakfast
Fullbar

After Run
V-8

Lunch
Frozen Pizza

Snack

Dinner
Chicken Breast
Potato Salad
Macaroni and Cheese

My diet was shit today.
If not for the V-8 I would not have had any vegetables at all.
I blame PMS.

Day 41 - Running Down A Dream

August 22, 2009

Exercise
5 mile run

I love Tom Petty, I often listen to Greatest Hits while I run or work out. All good songs, but Running Down A Dream always puts spring in my step. It is my motivation song.

Breakfast
Fullbar

These iPhone pics are driving me nuts, they look right in my file, then here on Blogger they get cockeyed. I'll be going back to my real camera Tuesday.

After Run Snack
V-8

Lunch
Lentil Soup

Snack 1
Cheetos

Snack 2
Carrots
(From my garden.)
Cilantro Dressing

Dinner
Steak
Steamed Rice

Day 40 - Baby, It's Hot Outside

August 21, 2009

Exercise
5 Mile run

It can be tough to crank out a full five miles when it is so hot outside.
We were out the door at 7:00 and it was already hot.
I try to stick to the shadiest route I can, but the sun still finds us.
I have to stop at every water fountain to fill the dogs water bottle and dump some over their heads to help them cool off a little.
If we pass running sprinklers Daisy will head right for them.
Dude has to be coaxed in, but I know he appreciates it afterward

They like to lie in front of the big fan for a while when we get home.

Breakfast
Fullbar
I like these bars, they are filling and give me the right
amount of energy for my run for only 170 calories.
I used to do Power Bars but they are so sweet and dense that they
were hard for me to choke down so early in the morning.

After Run Snack
V-8
Rye Crackers

Lunch
Leftover Chili And Baked Potato
Cheese
Reduced Fat Sour Cream

Snack
Cottage Cheese
(There wasn't much left.)
Doritos

Dinner
Chicken Picata
Steamed Rice

(Another one of those spontaneously rotating iPhone pics.)

Dessert
Coconut Sorbet

I think it was 140 calories. And so good.

Day 39 - Chili Today, Hot Tamale

August 20, 2009

Exercise
What exercise?

I did take the dogs to the park, but tried not to run around too much-
I had zero energy for some reason.

Breakfast
Leftover Fried Rice
(Forgot to take the picture.)

Lunch
Lean Cuisine
I can't remember what it was called but it had 180 calories.

Snack
Apple
Peanut Butter

Dinner
Chili
Baked Potato
Cheese
Lite Sour Cream

To make the chili relatively low-fat,
I brown the ground beef well and then drain and rinse it with hot water.
It cooked all day in the slow cooker and turned out great.
